NEMA, Yobe distributes materials to rebuild market
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) have distributed 1,500 bags of cement and roofing sheets to rebuild the potash market.
The Gashua market was engulfed by an inferno; destroying tons of potash and market stalls last week.
Distributing the building materials on Thursday at Gashua, Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Maihaja said that the exercise; was to cushion the pains caused by the market fire outbreak.
Executive Secretary of SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje urged a coordinated joint effort to assess the extent of damages to both products and market stalls.
He said 600 bags of cement and ceiling boards, including 300 bundles of zinc and other materials were distributed to rebuild the market.
