NEMA distributes tents, relief materials to Monguno IDP fire victims
The Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja has said that arrangements have been made to commence distribution of 150 tents to Monguno IDP fire victims in Maiduguri.
Relief materials, including food items, will also be distributed next week to people in distressed in camps.
Making the disclosure at the weekend in Maiduguri, Maihaja said the agency has to move swiftly to provide temporary shelter to over 7, 500 fire victims.
The Monguno IDPs fire incident at Maiduguri stadium camp affected 7,839 people with three dead.
He said: “We have already mobilised 150 tents with capacity for 20 persons each, including the procurement of mattresses, blankets, mats and tons of food items.
Maihaja called on other stakeholders, particularly the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to provide shelter at Teachers village IDP camp, Maiduguri.
