NEMA distributes relief materials to displaced policemen
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered relief materials to officers and men of the 41 Mobile Police Force that were “attacked and displaced” by Boko Haram insurgents last December in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
Presenting the materials at the weekend in Damaturu, the state Coordinator of the agency, Bashir Garga, however decried the neglect of security personnel and formations in the wake of incessant attacks and killings by Boko Haram insurgents.
He said the relief materials will provide succour to the affected police officers and men that were displaced by the insurgents.
Garga however noted that their humanitarian assistance was not restricted to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) alone but to others under emergency cases across the country. He therefore, assured that the gesture will be extended to other security operatives.
The Damaturu Area Commander, Mr. Yemi Samuel, who represented the state police commissioner, Zannah Ibrahim, received the materials which included: matrasses, tents, plastic buckets and cups, detergent, roofing sheets and bags of nails.
He appreciated the gesture, adding that it will go a long way to assist the command in the protection of more lives and property in the state.
