Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo State command, have arrested a 23-year-old polytechnic graduate, Lucky Abel, with crack cocaine, skunk cannabis and rohypnol.

Skunk is a hybrid-sativa strain of marijuana that creates a skunk-like smell. The arrest took place at Okada in Ovia North-East of the state. NDLEA Edo commander, Buba Wakawa, while confirming the arrest, told journalists yesterday that the suspected drug trafficker hails from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to him, “the arrest was based on information received on the illegal activities of the suspect in the state. Drug exhibits recovered from the suspect include eight wraps of crack cocaine weighing 24 grammes, 53 wraps of skunk cannabis weighing 250 grammes and 45 tablets of rohypnol.”

Buba urged the youths and members of the public to shun drug trafficking to fulfill their dreams and aspirations in life. He noted that drug trafficking and abuse is only going to cut short the lives of persons involved in the illicit act.

“This suspect ought to be preparing to further his studies or engage in a meaningful work but that can only take place after he has been cleared of this criminal charge.” Buba said.

Narrating how he got himself into the illicit business, the suspect said he has been smuggling drugs for the past one year. “I have been selling drugs for the past one year. I attended Okada Grammar School, Okada and graduated in 2010. Thereafter I studied Business Administration at Edo State Polytechnic, Usen in 2013 but have not secured any job since then.”
