Nasarawa lawmakers exchange blows over sole administrators
It was a free-for-all yesterday State House of Assembly complex in Lafia, Nasarawa state when the lawmakers disagreed over Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura’s decision to appoint care taker committee for local councils in the state.
Trouble started during the executive session preparatory to the plenary when some members objected to the appointment of sole administrators following the expiration of the tenure of elected chairmen on March, 24 , 2016.
The chamber was turned to a boxing ring of sorts immediately after the deputy speaker, Godiya Akwashiki, who presided over the sitting read out the governor’s decision.
During the brawl which lasted for some minutes members tore each others clothes, threw furniture and communication gadgets at themselves while broken pieces of glass from doors and windows littered the chamber.
