The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given all telecommunications service providers a 24-hour ultimatum to stop the N50 charge for candidates checking their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results, threatening to shutdown their offices.

NANS Senate President, Comrade Abdulmajeed Olademeji, in a statement accused JAMB of conniving with telecommunications providers to charge candidates, describing the development as illegal and a means of exploiting scarce resources of young Nigerians and their parents.

They threatened that failure to stop the N50 charges in the next 24 hours would lead to shutdown of all telecommunications providers’ headquarters.

“Nigerian students will relocate temporarily to service providers’ offices until our requests are granted and that would be an opportunity for the Nigerian students to ask for some of their social rights.

“Barricades will be created simultaneously at the headquarters of all the telecommunication networks,” the statement reads.
