N51bn Loko-Owete Bridge will soon be completed — Fashola
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said the N51bn Loko-Owete Bridge project, which would link Benue with Nasarawa State, would be completed in “a few months.”
Speaking during an inspection tour of roads and the bridge, which contract was awarded in 2011, Fashola also explained that the Federal Government attached importance to the project, and was sourcing for funds to deliver on the job soon.
According to him, the President is interested in completing the 1.8- kilometre Loko- Owete Bridge and had promised to be paying contractors quarterly, due to paucity of fund.
The Managing Director of contracting firm, RCC, Nabil Esawi, commended the Federal Government for its determination to complete the projects for free-flow of good and services from North to South.
In related development, Federal Government has handed over to the authorities of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State a 2.23-kilometre road in the institution.
The Minister, represented by the Federal Controller of Works, Kwara State, Wasiu Atitebi, affirmed government’s commitment to bridging the infrastructure gap of institutions.
Fashola also disclosed that there were 43 internal road intervention projects in tertiary institutions across the country, out of which 18 had been completed.
