My mother was my greatest asset, motivator —Melaye
Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State, yesterday, said his mother was his greatest asset and motivator in everything.
Melaye was speaking at his Ayetoro Gbede country home during the outing church service for his late mother, Mrs. Comfort Oni Melaye after her interment.
He said his mother always gave him needed support, especially whenever she knew he was on the path of truth.
He said: “When I was in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, I was asked to bring my parents, following a riot I helped to organise in protest against increase in school fees. When my mother arrived, she only asked me if I stole or killed somebody, to which I said no. I told her I organised protest against increase in school fees, and she said, ‘Carry on, you have my support.’”
Melaye described his mother as a great lover of children, who played the role of mother to more than 30 children, whom she trained up to the university.
According to him, she was a mother, friend and spiritual companion throughout his struggle for justice, both in school and in his political career.
