A widow and United Kingdom-based Nigerian, Mrs. Patricia Kelly-Lambo, has cried out for justice and protection of her life, following a forged divorced paper presented to a UK court by the former wife of her late husband, claiming she is the only legally married wife to Engr. Olayiwola James Akanbi Lambo.

However, Mrs. Esther Lambo, and her son, denied Patricia’s claims as false and unfounded.

According to Patricia Lambo, she lived together with her late husband in their London home before he took ill on July 17, 2017. He eventually died on November 3, 2017.

While still trying to come to terms with the death of her husband, she disclosed that the ex-wife, Esther, who her husband married and lived with between 1962 and 1974, but later divorced went to the hospital and the birth and death office in London posing as the wife and was then issued with the death certificate.

In the process of trying to dispute the claim of Esther and get back custody of the papers already issued to her in order to proceed with the arrangement for the burial of the deceased, she disclosed that Esther and her son, Tunde, dragged her to a UK court claiming she was long divorced by the late husband and presented what has turned out to be a forged divorce paper, dated March 8, 2000 from a high court in Lagos.

She disclosed to our correspondent that she got married to her late husband on April 17, 1993 at a Marriage Registry in City Hall, Lagos Island, and was never divorced from the husband at any time and that at the time she married her husband, she was the only legally married wife to him, adding that it was only years later she got to know of Esther.

She added that as of March 8, 2000 as claimed by the fake divorce document, her late husband was living in London while she was the only one living in Nigeria and that there was no way her husband would have instituted a divorce against her and she will not be served with the court summons or divorce paper by either the court or her late husband.

According to Patricia, they lived as husband and wife together in Nigeria before her husband relocated to the United Kingdom in 1999, where he lived until his death.

All efforts to reach Esther in London proved abortive but when reached on phone, Tunde, in his response denied the allegation, claiming that he has at no time issued threat to anyone.

“I am not aware of any allegation. I know Mrs. Patricia and I don’t have any information to give to you. I don’t know what kind of story she has told you that I am threatening her life. She lives close to me in London. So, how can I be threatening her in Nigeria?’’

When contacted also, Tunde’s lawyer in Nigeria, refuted the allegation against her client, insisting that Patricia is not presenting the full and true picture of the case.

As this tussle lingers, Patricia is crying out for justice and quick resolution of the case in UK court, as she lamented that Tunde and his mother are fighting to take over her property in United Kingdom and Nigeria.

‘‘Also, I cannot process anything in United Kingdom without the death certificate as a widow. Anything I apply for in United Kingdom they will ask me to bring my husband’s death certificate.”
