Representative of Rivers South East Senatorial District, Magnus Abe, yesterday said he has ended his 2019 gubernatorial ambition in the state.

Abe said sequel to Supreme Court’s judgement against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and candidature, his dream to occupy Government House Port Harcourt had been laid to rest.

He stated this yesterday, while addressing his supporters and APC stakeholders in the state, at the party’s factional secretariat, in Port Harcourt.

His words: “I have ended my ambition for 2019 here and ready to work for the progress of the party. We need to put the baton together again. It is our own determination that will make the APC work in Rivers State.

“I will not support any post-mortem of what has happened. I feel pained over what has happened in APC in Rivers State. We have sacrificed so much, we may not be holding anything now but because of what we have done, politics will be better in our state and country.

“We had come to fight for representatives in government. Members of APC should be treated with respect. But, we cannot run away from the reality of the situation. We need to be realistic, so that we can move forward.”

Senator Abe, who was APC’s factional governorship candidate, however, charged the national leadership of APC to desist from moves that would further destroy the party in the state.

“The leadership should stop doing things that will put the party and state in chaos and recognise the Chief Peter Odike-led leadership of APC,” he said.

Speaking, Odike lamented that the negative development in the party in Rivers State affected the country adversely, adding: “The lessons learnt from the state APC experience would strengthen our party in future.”
