Encomiums have been showered by some eminent Nigerians and groups on President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for their leadership styles, giant strides and other qualities.

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Olajide Olatubosun, applauded Buhari’s administration on the implementation of the 2017 budget.
Olatubosun who is a member of the House committee on Appropriation described the level of the implementation of the budget as unprecedented in the life of the country.

The lawmaker represents Atisbo/Saki west, East federal constituency of Oyo state on the platform of the ruling All progressive congress ( APC).
Encomiums were poured on Atiku as he was presented with the Nigerian flag at the just concluded HoG Awards for his contribution to the nation’s democracy.

The event was held in honour of notable Nigerians, including Atiku, Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State, Mr. Waheed Olagunju, Acting Managing Director, Bank of Industry (BoI) and Wilma Aguele of WILBAHI.

Alhaji Abubakar was honoured for his role in the fight against the military, his strides during his tenure as Vice President as well as his many interventions to save and sustain the nation’s hard-won democracy.

In his address, CEO of AlphaGrace Media, organisers of the Hall of Grace (HoG) Awards, Mr Rupert Ojenuwa, said: “Our nation is in dire straits, our nation has been bleeding, our nation searches for a hero. Nigeria needs help and this isn’t difficult to see. You can imagine that you have to provide for something as basic as power, as security, as potable water and all. Doesn’t it worry you that after close to 60 years of flag independence, we still struggle with these things? We are still known as a dark nation?

“We must, going forward, look for qualified people to lead us. We must focus on heroes and not leaders who seem to think Nigeria is a cooperative society owned by them. We must pick leaders who see all Nigerians as the same irrespective of where they come from or what religion they practice.

“Whilst I may lack the power or influence to ask Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to run for the presidency in 2019, I can advise every Nigerian. “If you must vote for leaders, vote for people in the mould of Atiku Abubakar. Atiku sacrificed so much for democracy. He almost lost his life fighting for its return and he delivered dividends during his tenure as vice president and this is why we honour him as All Time Hero of Nigeria’s Democracy,” he said.

Also, the National Committee of Yoruba Youths (NCYY), and Coalition of Civil Society Organisations Against Terrorism, has warned those trying to politicise the health condition of the Buhari.

The president of NCYY, Comrade Odeyemi Oladimeji and secretary of CSOAT, Comrade Olufemi Lawson, spoke while addressing journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Oladimeji said: ”We are particularly worried, that the threat to our corporate existence, might not be from the now defeated Boko Haram insurgents, but the activities of tribal war leaders, ethnic jingoists, religious zealots and some overzealous self-acclaimed activists, who feel that they can play politics with the health of President Buhari.

“Instead of spreading rumour about the President’s health, we must appreciate, the determination, focus, and compassion of President Buhari and the leadership of our security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army, ably led by Gen Tukur Buratai, which led to the recent release of the 82, of the abducted Chibok School girls.

“The Buhari administration is plugging all loopholes through the Treasury Single Account and the administration has shown enough courage and effort to tackle unbridled corruption and insurgency in our country.” He urged Nigerians to pray for the quick recovery of the President.

On his part, an APC chieftain in Delta State, Chief Nduka Ogwuda, has paid glowing tributes Buhari for dismantling of the dreaded Boko Haram in the North East, describing it as a historic feat that has brought an end to the insurgency in the region.

He equally commended the Armed Forces, especially the troops of “Operation Lafia Dole”, for their uncommon patriotism and sacrifice in rescuing the nation from criminally minded elements whose ideology was a visible threat to the nation’s security, particularly in the North East.

The APC Chieftain noted that with the total decimation of the ranks of the dreaded terrorist group, insurgency has been wiped out to a very large extent, while peace and normalcy have gradually returned to the areas that were affected by the destruction orchestrated by the insurgents.

Ogwuda expressed optimism that the APC led Federal Government of President Muhammadu Buhari will do all within its powers to rebuild the infrastructure that was destroyed in the wake of the insurgency, adding that with the soon to be passed North East Development Commission Bill, the region will witness unprecedented turnaround in its fortunes.

He also commended Buhari for giving the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, free hand to run the Oil and Gas sector. The APC Chieftain while lauded the President stated that by this singular action, President Buhari has in no small way aided the remarkable turn around in the Petroleum Industry by the APC led Federal Government.

While reflecting on the 2016 crisis that rocked the Petroleum Industry due to the action of Militant groups in the Oil rich Niger Delta region, Chief Ogwuda noted with delight that the pledge by Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to reposition the nation’s Oil and Gas sector with workable reforms are clearly yielding the desired dividends this years 2017.

The Delta APC Chieftain while commend the Minister of State for Petroleum for being a visible catalyst in pushing forward the APC “Change” agenda in the Petroleum sector, pledged the continuous support of the state chapter of the APC to continually support Dr. Kachikwu’s tour of duty at the Federal Executive Council.

He, therefore called on all Anioma, and indeed Deltans to give the Minister the needed moral support to succeed, describing Kachikwu as an accomplished technocrat and critical key player in the nation’s oil and gas sector.
