The Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, has commended Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), for promising to ensure exploration of bitumen, which he noted, the state has in abundance.

Akinruntan, who commended the governor’s determination to develop natural resources in the state, wondered why the exploration of bitumen had been neglected by past administrations in the state.

The paramount ruler of Ilaje kingdom spoke when some youth organisations and village heads paid him courtesy visit at his palace in Ugbo, Ilaje Local Council of Ondo State.

He said: “I have to thank the new governor for starting very well. I am particularly happy when I heard him expressing his determination to ensure exploration of bitumen in the state. Ondo State has the largest deposit of bitumen in the country but one wonders why it has not been explored despite the fact that its exploration can provide thousands of jobs for our teeming unemployed youths and earn good revenue for the state.”

Akinruntan also charged the politicians in the state to put the state first in their decisions and support the governor.

According to him: “There is need for all of us to support this administration to deliver on his campaign promises. He is not a typical politician but a refined gentleman who joined politics to serve humanity. But we must all support him.”

He also urged Christians in the state to use the Lenten period to pray for the success of the new administration and President Muhammadu Buhari who is on medical vacation.
