Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs has alleged mismanagement in procurement process by officials in the last administration.

A statement signed by Director Press, Marshal Gundu yesterday read that the alleged officials are currently planning a protest against the ministry because they are scared that an ongoing investigation into their alleged misdeed would expose the extent of their rot.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria is aware of a sponsored demonstration against the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. The sponsors of this plot are those individuals who had been involved in running the affairs of the MDAs saddled with the responsibility of supervising, coordinating and implementing government policies in the Niger Delta region,” the statement said.

It added: “They are ostensibly scared of their fate in the on-going exercise to uncover the several maleficences and scam involved in the procurement processes of the Ministry and its agencies, and to conduct a holistic audit of the development efforts in the region.

“The Ministry wishes to inform all well-meaning Nigerians that this exercise to uncover and remedy the rot in the Ministry (and all other agencies working for the development of the region) is a pragmatic effort by the current administration to foster the realization of self-worth in every indigene of the Niger Delta, for the sole purpose of positive living and synergy between the nation state and the Niger Delta region, and to anchor such on the common ethics of humanity. To further create ownership of sectoral development, and building such on political, social and economic tools towards a virile, efficient and sustainable regional economy.”
