Military kills 40 terror suspects, recovers arms in Borno

Troops of the 113 battalions of the Nigerian Army have killed about 40 suspected Boko Haram terrorists during the fighting patrol in the Dunga general areas of Borno State at the weekend.

They also destroyed terrorist’s camp at Alajeri village of Guzamala council area of the state.

This was disclosed yesterday in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman.

Usman said that the destroyed terrorists’ camp was discovered at the farming and fishing village of Alajeri, which shares borders with Niger Republic.

The statement reads: “The troops captured a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one Rocket Propelled Grenade 7 (RPG), six AK 47 rifles, two Fabrique Nationale rifles, 10 magazines, 188 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 64
rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.”

Also, troops of Operation Sharan Daji engaged in anti-cattle rustling, armed banditry, and other criminal activities in states of the North-west, have continued their campaigns, killing several of them and destroying their camps.

Meanwhile, ongoing raid by a combined team of army, navy and police operatives in several communities in Uvwie local council of Delta State has led to the death of two persons with over 35 suspected criminals arrested.

The raid continued yesterday in Ekpan, Effurun, Ebrumede, Odumo and other adjoining communities in the council with more arrests recorded.

The 4th Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Faruk Yahaya and the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Baba Akali Usman, directly coordinated the operation.

Three persons who allegedly planned to kidnap one Ozuem Chukwunalu Romanus, the Director of Ozuem Petrol station in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Council, Delta State, were dead by the police.
