Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh was yesterday rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja, after falling from a swivel chair during the inauguration of Borno and Kebbi states caretaker committees.

Metuh was about to take his seat during the inauguration when he slipped off the chair reserved for him.

It took about 10 minutes before the two policemen attached to the office of the National Chairman could assist him to his feet.

Metuh, who could not walk properly after having been assisted from the floor, was virtually carried to his car through the back gate before he was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The PDP spokesman was said to have complained of backache before the incident

A close friend of the party spokesman, said he hit his back on the floor, which further compounded the backache. The friend, who said his name should not be mentioned, said he could not help himself and could not walk even in the hospital.

He said: “As I am speaking with you now he cannot walk, we don’t know the level of damage he sustained when he fell. He’s being battling with backache, we are praying he comes out of it.”

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff has said that new membership cards will be used for the forthcoming Kebbi and Borno states congresses.

Sheriff, who stated this while inaugurating a nine-member caretaker committee each for Kebbi and Borno States, explained that this development became imperative because of the volatile nature of the states.
