Many escape death in Oshodi multiple accident
Tragedy was yesterday averted at the popular Oshodi Oke bus-stop on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, when a trailer along with a commercial bus and two private cars were involved in multiple accidents.
Going by the severe impact of the accident on the vehicles and the scene of the accident noted for its heavy human traffic, passersby and hundreds of onlookers said it was a miracle that no life was lost in the incident.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the police, who were at scene said, several people were, however injured in the accident that occurred at about 3.30 pm.
According to a LASTMA official, who pleaded for anonymity, the accident was caused when the commercial bus rammed into the trailer. The private vehicles, which were on top speed rammed into the bus, which later skidded off the road and fell upside down at the nearby park.
The driver of the commercial bus, which turned upside down was said to have fainted as a result of the incident.
However, the prompt arrival of an ambulance at the scene salvaged the situation. As expected, the accident caused severe traffic snarl for motorists coming from Gbagada heading to Oshodi and onwards.
Other artery routes were also locked down, including the Agege Motor Road and Ikorodu Road.
