The body of a 56-year old chartered accountant, Rasaki Balogun and his yet-to-be identified lover were found dead in a pool of blood at No. 16, Taiwo Oke street, Victory Estate, Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

Already, homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Lagos command, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Balogun and his lover in an apartment at Ejigbo.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said the case was reported to the police by the man’s wife, Akorede Balogun. He said based on the strength of the complaint, the police from Ejigbo visited the scene where they recovered both bodies.

The image-maker of the command said that on June 20, at about 8:00a.m. one Akorede Balogun of Area 2, Igbehindun Estate, New Heaven, Iba, reported at Iba Police Station that her husband one Rasaki Balogun, ‘m’ 56-years old of No, 16, Taiwo Oke Victory Estate, Ejigbo was found dead with his mistress in his sitting room.

Elkana said a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer Ejigbo visited the scene. “Bodies of the man and his mistress were found in the pool of their blood with the woman laying on a knife. The man is said to be living alone in the house while his family lives in a different place. Identify of the mistress is yet to be established as he was said to have picked her about two days to the incident from an unknown location.

“The crime scene was sealed off for forensic analysis while the bodies were evacuated to the hospital for autopsy. Homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba have taken over the case on the instruction of the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu. Investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding their death,” he added.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old bride, Fatima Musa, has allegedly attempted to kill her husband, Saheed Husaini, by stabbing him in the abdomen over a misunderstanding. Fatima, a Law student of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), allegedly committed the offence at 1:30a.m. on Saturday at their Ungwar Mai Kalwa, Naibawa Quarters home in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

It was learnt that Fatima suspected that her husband was communicating with other women on his phone.
An eyewitness said it was the cry for help from Saheed that woke him. He said the neighbours found Saheed as he held his stomach while he bled.

Saheed, a worker of Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State, was conveyed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) where he is receiving treatment. He was still unconscious on Sunday.

A source told newsmen that the seven-month marriage had been having hiccups as Fatima reportedly said on many occasions that she did not love Saheed but for the insistence of her mother. “Fatima has allegedly attempted poisoning him thrice, believing if she achieved that aim, she would be free,” the source said.

Police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said Fatima had been arrested and transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
