There was pandemonium at Oshodi area of Lagos State yesterday as a passenger jumped out of a moving commercial bus, popularly known as Danfo.

The man (names withheld) was knocked down immediately by another vehicle coming behind the bus.

Passers-by tried to revive him after he lay unconscious and was not responding to the oral resuscitation therapy done on him.

He was later rushed to a nearby hospital in a tricycle by some Good Samaritans as an ambulance was not immediately available at the time.

A mild melee was averted when some area boys attempted to pounce on the driver but the passengers came to his rescue and prevented the hoodlums from attacking their driver.

They insisted that the man voluntarily jumped out of the bus after the driver had repeatedly warned that no one should alight at the Bolade bus-stop until he stops at the designated bus-stop for fear of being arrested by the police.

One of the passengers, Muniru Sadiq, told The Guardian that the man seemed hysterical while he tried to force the door open to alight at Bolade.

In another incident, a Nissan Pathfinder SUV caught fire yesterday in front of a gas shop at Ogunremimo Street, Mafoluko area of Oshodi, Lagos.

The owner of the vehicle, who is an employee at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, was on his way to work with a friend when passersby brought to his notice smoke coming out from the car.

The driver and his friend were able to immediately leave the vehicle before it burst into flames in front of the gas shop.

The fire was caused by electrical issues in the car.

According to the driver, he took the vehicle to his mechanic to fix a rewiring problem on Saturday and had the car returned to him on Sunday, but to his surprise, the car still had some issues.
