The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, disclosed this yesterday while parading Ezenwa alongside three other suspects, who committed various crimes at the command headquarters.

Ondo State police command has arrested Mr. Raphael Ezenwa, for allegedly buying a stolen brand new Range Rover Sport Jeep, 2007 model, for the sum of N800,000 and sold to another buyer for N1.5 million.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, disclosed this yesterday while parading Ezenwa alongside three other suspects, who committed various crimes at the command headquarters.

Joseph said the owner of the vehicle, Mr. Napoleon Isaac, was robbed of the vehicle and another BMW Jeep 2005 model, both unregistered, by a gang of armed robbers numbering about six along Akure-Ilesa road when he was coming from Lagos to Akure.

“The hoodlums robbed him of the two vehicles and other valuable items at gun point,” he said, adding that the police swung into action on receipt of the complaint.

Through intelligence gathering, he said Ezenwa was arrested alongside one other suspect, Chukwudi Oruma in Ogun and Lagos states respectively.

But Ezenwa, who told journalists that he was a businessman and spare parts dealer in Ladipo Market, Lagos, confessed that he bought the jeep from Oruma, who had been his auto mechanic for several years.

According to him, the mechanic contacted him that the owner of the vehicle was in dire need of money to clear some goods at the port, so he had to dispose the jeep to raise more money. The suspect said he saw profit opportunity in the deal and paid N800,000 for the jeep, which he resold to another customer for N1.5 million.

Among other suspects was Thomas Onofuapo, who alongside other gang members, robbed one Mr. Ifanegan Isaac, of his Nissan Almeria with registration number: KTU 309 AX and carted away N90,000.

Another Chukma Okoro robbed a sales girl of N550,000 at gunpoint when going to make deposit at a bank in Akure, but was foiled by the girl who raised an alarm to arrest the suspect.

The PPRO, who assured that the suspects would soon be charged to court, said the command was still investigating to arrest other suspects that were at large, urging residents of the state to report any criminal activities in their neighbourhood.
