Mamora tasks health institutions, practitioners on improvement of infrastructure, services

The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Adeleke Mamora, has called for the need to strengthen prioritisation of healthcare services to the public, saying it is more important than the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Speaking during the commissioning of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Ebute-Metta General Out-Patient Clinic/Accident and Emergency Building Complex, Mamora said the Federal Ministry of Health and Presidential Task Force (PTF) have always encouraged health institutions and healthcare practitioners to pay as much attention to the maintenance, sustenance and improvement of existing health infrastructure and services.
   
He commended FMC management for the complete digitalisation of its clinical services, while encouraging the board and management to continue raising the bar of quality healthcare to Nigerians to reduce mortality rate in the country.

“… The building we are commissioning today was started barely eight months ago. Despite the pandemic that is brutal and unsparing in its devastation, the project has been completed in record term. It houses four departments each of which is well equipped to provide high-end medical services to Nigerians. This has not in anyway distracted the hospital management in its effort, regarding the care of Covid-19 patients…” Mamora said.
  
The Chairman, Board of Management, FMC, Ishola Balogun Fulani said commissioning building would help in the management of patients, especially those that require emergency services, thereby reducing the mortality rate in the country.
 
He said the hospital is undergoing transformation and leading the way in transforming the health landscape in Nigeria.

“All our clinical services from registration, consultation to prescription, laboratory requests and results, patient notes and payment system are all automated and electronic,” he said.
