The dream of former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan to become the number one citizen of Taraba State next year has suffered setback, as thousands of her followers, yesterday, dumped the United Democratic Party (UDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The decampees, who included Local Government and Ward executives, had previously left APC to align with the former minister, who recently resigned her appointment and left APC for UDP as a result of what she termed “lack of internal democracy in APC.”

Receiving the decampees alongside party officials in Jalingo, the APC governorship candidate, Abubakar Sani Danladi said all issues and grievances that “emanated from the party’s governorship primaries in the state have finally been laid to rest.”

Appealing to party members to close ranks and face the task of delivering victory to APC in 2019, he said the party had already commenced the process of reconciliation, by reaching out to some former governorship aspirants, and that most of them have already responded positively to his entreaties.
