Makinde inaugurates judicial service commission

• Asks members to fast-track justice
• Oyo govt seeks synergy with UCH to improve healthcare system

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday said that his administration would work with the judiciary to bring about the needed reforms that will make Oyo State greater.

The governor, who stated this while inaugurating the state’s Judicial Service Commission, tasked the commission to fast-track the judicial system in the state by ensuring quick dispensation of justice and independence of the judicial arm of government.

A statement, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, said that Makinde made the declaration in his office in Agodi, Ibadan.

He said that the governor charged members of the commission to “get straight to the tasks” and work collectively towards decongestion of inmates at the correctional service centres.

He said: “I am always delighted to perform ceremonial functions, especially the ones that work to strengthen democracy. For me, the most beautiful part of democracy is checks and balances provided by each arm of the government. So, we are here today to inaugurate and swear in the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission.”

In another development, the governor has reiterated the support of the state government to revive the annex of the University College Hospital (UCH) at Sepeteri to improve the healthcare system in the state.

Makinde, who stated this during a courtesy visit of the management of the college, said that provision of qualitative healthcare service delivery was part of the four cardinal programme of his administration, hence the need for effective collaboration with management of UCH to achieve the set goals.
