Lyon’s victory reflective of people’s wish, IYC insists

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide has applauded the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the just concluded Bayelsa gubernatorial election, saying David Lyon’s success at the poll was a manifestation of the wishes of the people of Bayelsa State, and by extension, the Ijaw nation.

The youths congratulated the Governor-elect for winning the keenly contested November 16, 2019 governorship elections.

A statement by IYC President, Eric Omare, called on the Lyon to use his position to unite the Ijaw nation from Akwa Ibom to Ondo for a common purpose just as the late “Governor General of the Ijaw Nation” Chief D. S. P. Alamieyesiegha did.

“We call on other contestants who lost out in the contest to join hands with the Governor-elect in the interest of the Ijaw nation. We also call on the outgoing governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, who is a strong advocate of the Ijaw interest to support the Governor-elect in the interest of the Ijaw nation,” the group pleaded.
