PFN Calls For National Prayer
The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Alfred Adewale Martins, has called on government at all levels to identify with concerns of the people they govern, even as the country is going through a critical phase in its history.

He said current agitation and clamour for restructuring, secession and devolution of power show there is a lot of discontent in the society.Martins made this call at the ordination of priests held at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Amuwo Odofin.

According to Martins, “our government at all levels needs to listen to what the people are saying, their concerns and take them seriously and ensure these concerns are met, else the call for secession will continue to go on. Whatever happens there must be a change in the way we administer the country at this present time such that more people can feel a sense of belonging and less sense of being marginalised.”

Meanwhile, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude has declared October 1, a day of prayer for Nigeria by the Pentecostal community in Nigeria.

The PFN president, in a statement issued yesterday, and made available to the media by his Director of Media and Public Relations, Simbo Olorunfemi, directed all leaders of the faith to use the occasion of the Independence anniversary, which falls on a Sunday, to lead the congregation in prayers for the nation and leaders at all levels of government.

He also urged the government to pay more attention to bringing the people together, work harder to improve the economy and create more employment for the youth in order to urgently address the restiveness and agitation that have lately be witnessed in the country.
