The Chairman, Kaduna Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend John Joseph Hayab has warned those blackmailing patriotic Nigerians advocating the release of Leah Sharibu to desist from such act.

Hayab cited the case of criticisms and blackmail mounted by some faceless individuals against former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omookri, saying the attack was baseless and unpatriotic, especially at a time when all should work to secure her release.

In a statement in Kaduna, yesterday, Hayab said: “I have been involved with the parents of our dear daughter, Leah, who is still being held captive by Boko Haram, and we know those who are sacrificing their time, energy and resources to let the world know about her plight. But sadly some faceless people have been sponsored to spread lies against them.

“I therefore wish to appeal to our dear brother, Reno Omookri not to allow those spreading lies against him that he is enriching himself about Leah, to discourage him from continuing with the good struggle.”
