The House of Representatives has ordered the multinational oil companies operating in Nigeria to stop the flaring of associated gas.

The lawmakers yesterday resolved that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and other regulatory bodies should ensure strict compliance with the “ Flare Gas Regulation 2018 as well as the implementation of the Nigeria Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP).

The resolution followed the adoption of a motion on the urgent need to end gas flaring in the country and harness associated gas moved by Ben Rolland Igbakpa representing Ethiope East and Ethiope West Federal Constituency of Delta State.
