LAPO launches new HMO improves health of 57,074 community members

Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) has established Life Action Plus Ltd, a national health maintenance organization (HMO). Its mission is to improve access of Nigerians to quality health insurance services.

Executive Director, LAPO, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo, said the HMO is strategically positioned to provide quality health insurance coverage for individuals in the formal and non-formal sectors including small business owners and clients of microfinance institutions.

She said new HMO would operate Basic Plus, Standard Plus, Special Plus and Super Plus insurance benefit packages for company enrollees and their dependents, noting that the plans are based on suitability, necessity, affordability and desirability criteria.

“Irrespective of their plans, enrollees are expected to benefit from healthcare services which include outpatient care, diagnostic tests and prescribed drugs, maternity care, eye examinations and care, including spectacles, preventive dental care and pain relief, hospital admission for 15 days consecutively, x-ray, minor surgery and life-threatening emergency care services,” she added.

Meanwhile, LAPO has disclosed it has improved the reproductive, maternal and child health of 57,074 community members through awareness creation and counseling in August 2017 with over 21,053 persons screened for various ailments including HIV, malaria, blood pressure, blood sugar and hepatitis.

Health Manager, Ayobami Honestus Obadiora, who restated LAPO’s commitment to improving community access to services, disclosed this. He said, “good health is crucial and central to poverty reduction efforts.”

According to him, the organization encourages early detection and management of health conditions.
