LAPO gives scholarship to 5,650 students
POISED to making the sciences attractive to students of secondary schools, the management of LAPO Microfinance Bank Limited has organised the 2015 LAPO Annual Quiz Competition where it disclosed that 5,650 indigent students in secondary and tertiary institutions across the federation had benefited from its scholarship programme since inception in 2006.
Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Godwin Ehigiamusoe, said over 160 schools from Edo and Delta states participated in this year’s contest, adding that the three best schools from each of the state competed for the prestigious LAPO trophy in Benin city, the Edo State capital.
At the end of proceedings, the Catholic Church-owned Lumen Christi International High School, Uromi emerged overall winner while the second and third positions went to University Preparatory Secondary School (UPSS), Benin and Federal Science and Technical College, Uromi respectively.
