IF the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu on the excesses of officers enforcing the state-at-home order in Lagos State, is anything to go by, then the chairman of the state Task Force, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi and all the officers seen in a video, would be disciplined.

In the video, the officers led by Egbeyemi, destroyed drinks and items at a bar, including a show-glass in a nearby store.

The IGP had ordered that all those seen in the video, vandalising goods in the shop because of the owner’s failure to heed the directive of Lagos State Government.

Adamu, who condemned the officers for destroying the goods, asked the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu to investigate the incident and commence disciplinary actions against the officers involved.

In a statement, by the Police, it said: “The IGP notes that we are now in extra-ordinary times – a global state of emergency. Police officers involved in the enforcement of restriction orders and other law enforcement functions must therefore exercise their discretionary powers with utmost sense of professionalism, compassion and respect for the citizens.”
