Contrary to rumours making the rounds, the Lagos State government yesterday insisted that all schools in the state would resume the third term academic session today, Monday April 11, 2016.

Deputy Governor of the state, who also superintendents the Education Ministry, Dr. Idiat Adebule, denied claims that the resumption date, following the Easter break, had been postponed.

Adebule said that the ministry was not unaware of the socio-economic stress associated with the current fuel scarcity, but higher premium “must be placed on the development of the leaders of tomorrow.”

She explained that any attempt to shift the resumption date forward would disrupt the academic calendar and other education-related plans that the ministry had designed for the current year.

Adebulen therefore, appealed to parents to look beyond the present situation and encourage their wards to face the future with renewed vigour, “as the call for a shift in the resumption date would only distort the academic calendar”.

She urged proprietors of private schools, Head Teachers/ Principals of public schools to do everything humanly possible to see that the school calendar runs uninterrupted.

In another development, the State Government yesterday launched an online platform where lawyers, investors and the public can have access to all the laws of the State.

In a statement, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, said the digital platform, which can be accessed via www.laws.lagosstate.gov.ng, was the first of its kind and another eloquent testimony to the tradition of excellence which Lagos is known for.
