The Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Hakeem Odumosu, has suggested that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should be given priority in national issues.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Hakeem Odumosu, has suggested that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should be given priority in national issues.

Odumosu stated this, yesterday, when he received the Lagos NYSC State Co-ordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa and his team in his office.

The CP said the scheme had breached disunity among people from the diverse cultures in the country.

Besides, he said that having passed through the rudiment of the national scheme, the importance of the continuity of the NYSC and the virtues it brings in preserving the Nigerian heritage could not be over-emphasised.

Odumosu, who gave assurance that the police would always open it arms in ensuring the delivery of its mandate of protecting lives and property, urged the state co-ordinator to update him with comprehensive details of the location of all corps lodges in Lagos State for him to provide the secretariat with the contact details of the Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders to ensure a more interpersonal relationship with the NYSC.

Megwa, who spoke earlier, thanked the commissioner for the relationship between the police and the NYSC, and appealed for the security of corps members in the state.
