Newly sworn-in chairmen of the local councils in Lagos State have performed their first official duties, swearing-in members of their respective councils’ legislative arm.

While performing the ceremony, chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Shamsudeen Abiodun Olaleye, enjoined the newly elected councilors to repose the confidence of the electorates by making laws that would impact positively on the lives of the people.

The council boss noted that the task of bringing dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people of the council area starts with the lawmakers and hence could not afford to fail.

Among the newly sworn-in councilors from the seven political wards of the council area are Abisodun Odusina-Adeoye (Ishagatedo/Ire-Akari), Kanayo Osondu (Okota), Idris Agbabiaka (Akinbaiye), Remmy Shittu Remmy (Apena), Kayode Olanrewaju (Alagbeji), Magnus Chidiebere (Ajao Estate) and Adeyemi Akeem (Ilasamaja).

Also, chairman of Yaba LCDA, Kayode Omiyale, has urged the newly inaugurated councilors to be good ambassadors of their various wards. He said this at the proclamation of the Legislative House and the election of officers into the legislative arm of the council.

“The mandate given to us is to improve the welfare of the people, do road construction, provide potable water where they are needed, construct and renovate more classrooms, clear refuse at all our black spots, and provide modern furniture in our offices. My appeal to you is that this administration must be rancour free. I will be hard on punctuality of members of staff, because punctuality is the soul of business and we must be seen to be serious,” he said.

In the same vein, chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Abdul Fatai Oyesanya, has sworn in the seven elected councilors in the council area, charging them to make the welfare of their constituents a top priority, as the people expect nothing short of good governance from their elected representatives.
