THE Labour Party (LP) has condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for overheating the polity and endangering the nation’s nascent democracy over its mishandling of the leadership crisis rocking the National Assembly.

The protracted leadership and Principal Officers’ crisis culminated in yesterday’s disruption of proceedings at the House of Representatives.

National chairman of LP, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam said yesterday in Abuja that the leadership of the APC should respect the tenets of democracy playing out at the National Assembly and stop endangering democracy with godfatherism and imposition syndrome.

“The Labour Party observed that since the APC took over the reins of government as the ruling party especially in the two chambers of the National Assembly, it has been one crisis or another. We are disturbed, concerned and getting embarrassed that those claiming to be agents of change are portraying Nigeria and Nigerians in bad light before the international community,” Abdulsalam said.
