Kwara undertakes free medical treatment for 500 patients

No fewer than 500 patients are to benefit from a free medical and surgical intervention funded by the Kwara State Government, which begin today at the Ilorin General Hospital.

The public-funded surgical interventions, the first in the history of the state, involve treatments for cataract, glaucoma, hernia, and neurosurgery, among others in partnership with the Kwara State Association of Nigeria USA, Sakinah Medical Outreach and the state chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA).

Slated for between September 23 and 27, the surgical interventions are a follow up to the statewide medical mission during which doctors attended to over 2,500 patients suffering from various ailments and offered medical advice and the ongoing medical screenings in general hospitals in the state.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Matters, Professor Wale Sulaiman, said in a statement yesterday that, “These interventions are a part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s agenda to ensure good healthcare for the people and for which the state government had released N26.9m.”
