Kwara Government to eradicate cultism at schools

Kwara state government yesterday announced its resolve to eradicate cultism in all the tertiary and post primary institutions in the state.

According to Dr Muideen Akorede, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, the step became necessary in order to maintain the toga of peace and harmony already placed on the state.

Akorede, during a post-Executive Council Meeting Press Conference said the council had recommended that a crusade team be constituted to take the battle against the vice to schools, homes and other important places in the society.

Recently, the state with an extant penalty of 10 years jail term without an option of fine sentenced three persons after their conviction by a competent court of Law to 10years imprisonment due to cult related offences.
