Kwara Government disburses N31m to victims of fuel tanker accident

The Kwara Government has begun disbursement of over N31 million cash compensation to 194 victims of the December 2020 fuel tanker

The Kwara Government has begun disbursement of over N31 million cash compensation to 194 victims of the December 2020 fuel tanker accident that occured in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area of the state.

Mr John Bello, the Chairman, Jebba Fire Disaster Relief Committee, flagged off the disbursement on behalf of Gov. AbfulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday in Ilorin.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that AbdulRazaq was in Jebba in December 2020, and gave some money to the people to cushion the effects of the incident.
Bello, also Deputy House Leader, Kwara House of Assembly, said the fund was provided by the state government.

“Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq came here in December 2020 and gave 100 victims of the accident N5 million. We want to appreciate him for all what he had done for the people of Jebba,” he said
The deputy speaker urged the victims to make judicious use of the fund.

Mr Rotimi Iliasu, immediate past Commissioner for Works, called on the people to continue supporting the AbdulRazaq-led administration to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

Also, Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Mrs Motunrayo Adeniran, assured the victims that the compensation would go round and called for calm to ensure a seamless exercise.

Responding on behalf of the victims, Mr John Okedare, commended the governor for his gesture, saying: ”we appreciate the magnanimity of the governor to support the victims of the tanker fire accident.”
