Kowa Party pledges to stop rural-urban migration

Putting a stop to rural-urban migration will form the policy thrust of the Kowa Party (KP) if it wins the September 10 polls.

Its governorship candidate, Thompson Osadolor, disclosed this yesterday in Benin City when the party kicked off its campaign.

Osadolor told the party supporters that there was urgent need to give priority to job creation, health and education of the people.

The aspirant, who expressed optimism at winning the polls, explained that the Kowa Party’s promise would be achieved through the provision of infrastructure in the rural communities of the state.

He added that he would focus on the construction of low-cost houses across the state, as well as rural electrification for the communities.

Osadolor told the supporters that his party would grant soft loans to farmers and artisans at single digit interest rates.

He pledged to aggressively pursue the development of the agricultural sector, suggesting that the sector could aid the emergence of new cities and also curb youth restiveness.

According to him, the Kowa Party will make agriculture more attractive by buying the crops from the farmers at attractive prices for export or direct sales to the industries.

On health, Osadolor said primary health centres would be equipped with modern health facilities to meet the challenges of rural communities while new ones would be built where needed.

“We are also going to re-equip and restructure all our hospitals, not only to prevent deaths, but also to stop medical tourism,” he said.

The aspirant explained that part of his agenda for the public schools would be to link them with the Internet, including building of staff quarters in schools across the state.

Osadolor noted that whatever gains the state governor Adams Oshiomhole may have recorded, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), “cannot be trusted with the responsibility of leading the state.”
