Kebbi State government, in partnership with UNICEF, yesterday, flagged off the malarial scheme, while also setting up an emergency transport plan for pregnant women and children in the 21 local government areas of the state.

In his speech, Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Usman Kambaza, said the emergency transport scheme was conceived to check delay in reaching health facilities, especially in hard-to-reach areas, as well as mountainous terrains and riverine areas of the state.

He explained that the emergency transport scheme was a public private partnership collaboration between the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ministry of Health, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Ministry of Women Affairs, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), State Inspection Vehicle Division (VIO) and Nigeria Police, among others.
