The Kano state government has expressed its readiness to partner with any foreign multinational corporation wishing to invest in the state.

The governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, made the remark at the official opening of the ongoing 36th Kano International Trade Fair in Kano on Sunday.

According to him, boosting trade and commerce at this time is part of the cardinal objectives of the state government, pointing out that heavy investment from foreigners would boost economic activities in the state.

Ganduje, who was represented by the commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Rabiu Bako, said his administration was concerned about the sorry state of industries in Kano, which he said, had remained moribund for quite some time.

He noted that the construction of independent power plants conceived by the government was necessary, in order to revive ailing industries in the state.

The governor said the administration would focus on the development of the rich potential of the state in order enable it to attract foreign investors.

Earlier, the President, Kano Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) Alhaji Umar Dansulaika, said the Trade Fair was a significant turning point in the history of Kano, considering the calibre of foreign multi-national Corporations that were participating at the fair.

He said that with the dwindling fortunes of oil in the International Market, there was need for the private sector to fully participate in the fair to enhance socio-economic activities in the state, in particular, and the nation, at large.

The KACCIMA president commended the state government for supporting viable businesses and economic initiatives, stressing that the chamber was ready to partner with the state government to ensure economic growth and overall development in the state.
