lag-sanitationThe Kano State Government on Saturday announced the extension of its monthly environmental sanitation to Sunday.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Dr Ali Makoda, disclosed this to journalists on Saturday, shortly after monitoring exercise for the month of June.

Makoda said the population of Kano, in addition to the rainy season, made it necessary for the extension to enable people to properly clean their surroundings and drainage.

The commissioner commended the people of the state for their level of compliance during the exercise and implored them to continue with the attitude.

He, however, restated the new administration’s desire to ensure a cleaner and a healthier environment, adding that this would only be achieved with the support of the citizenry.

He said his ministry would liaise with some local government councils on how to improve sanitation in their areas.

The commissioner visited all the metropolitan Local Government Areas in Kano, including Ungogo Local government Area.
NAN reports that there was no arrest with regards to non- compliance to exercise for the month of June

Ok this is wrong and i still wonder how people conveniently enjoy making life difficult for others…I am a Muslim and i know for fact that in the seerah of the holy Prophet(pbuh) that all faiths lived in Medina during his stay there and their rights were respected and never denied.

Kano state government is simply looking for trouble with this ill timed time table for her monthly sanitation. Why deny Christians movements on Sundays? Is Saturday not enough to clean up the state? What is the motive behind the extension to Sundays if not to victimize Christians in the state. What a wicked act but it will last.

Nigeria is still a secular state.Any state that is governed by religious laws is not part of Nigeria. Applying sharia laws to non Muslims means that kano state is a sovereign caliphate where Nigerians must abide by sharia laws, whether they are Muslims or not. Any state that is applying sharia laws against non Muslim Nigerians in their states must be sanctioned by stopping their allocations from the federation account. Sharia is for Muslims only.

Kano State Government has denied restricting movement on Sundays, saying the allegations are malicious and unfounded.

In a statement signed by the state commissioner for Environment, Dr Ali Makoda, the state government said the issue of extending sanitation to Sundays does not affect both vehicular and pedestrian movements.

He said it was in recognition of the sanctity of religion and citizens rights to movement as enshrined in the constitution that the state government allows free movement on Sundays.

“We cannot restrict worshippers from going to their sanctuaries. The plan to extend the sanitation exercise is to encourage people to mop up and clear the remnant of the refuse from their localities”, he said.

The commissioner emphasized that participation in both Saturday and the Sunday sanitation extension is voluntary.

“There is no compulsion in the sanitation exercise and participation is voluntary not compulsory”, Makoda said. Saw this on a friends wall and i hope to get a source to validate this claim…

We can understand you explanation but please move it back to Friday and Saturday not Sunday. Please respect us (Sunday) and let continue to stay in peace. Many people will misunderstand your reason about Sunday, please withdraw your step.

Sometimes I still asked myself if what we are practicing is truly democracy, where there is no freedom for the citizens of such country, where religion comes first for the state, where there is no respect for individuals view, where there is no law and order, that is why such cases can be found in this part of the country(north).
Why must all this be coming from this region, why must we always want to victimized our fellow citizens in the name of sanitation, why will this always come from the north? It’s really time we put our wicked acts behind us in order for the nation to move ahead.
Nation building should the priority, not denying citizens their right to worship on Sundays.

AS KANO STATE GOVERNMENT SYSTEMATICALLY BAN SUNDAY WORSHIP IN KANO

Why was man created, what did God expect us (humans) to do? What was the message Moses sent to Pharaoh, the message from Moses to pharoah was………. “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness.’…
God did not create human beings because he needed them for anything except his delight seeing them worshiping him in truth and in spirit. Though as God, he needs nothing. In all eternity past, he felt no loneliness, so he was not looking for a “friend.” He loves us, but this is not the same as needing us. If we had never existed, God would still be God—the unchanging One. The I AM (Exodus 3:14) was never dissatisfied with His own eternal existence.

If u don’t know let me quickly tell you, God is not interested in anything from man except praises and worship that was why it was boldly stated at the TEN commandment that, ” KEEP THE SABBATH DAY HOLY”. the sabbath day is an unanimously agreed day to worship God…. Do u even know that prayer offered to God is for the help of mankind and not for the benefit of the Creator who is also called ” I AM THAT I AM”… The only thing God requires from you as a Christian is WORSHIP AND PRAISES AS IT IS DONE IN HEAVEN.

That was why Shedrach, Meshach and Abedego found favor in the eyes of God when the king of Babylon(NOW IRAQ) who had held the ISRAELITE CAPTIVE made a law against the worship of JEHOVAH, these three young men resisted the king and the penalty was death, but God appear in the 9th hour… The point I am trying to make here is , God does not play with those that worship him in truth and in spirit..

Barring true worshipers of GOD from worship is tantamount to fighting the creator of all things… and I will not rest until this so called environmental law in Kano State is review… CAN ( christain Association of Nigeria) may keep mute, clergy men may choose to be silent, the political class maybe silent but I will not keep quiet until God prove himself… I will not keep quiet till this law is reviewed….. This is not about the north and the south or Muslim versus Christan but it is a battle between hypocrites and Christians , because it is not the teaching of Islam….. IT IS NOT THE TEACHING OF ISLAM, because I once live in Muslim countries and cities.. Ankara in turkey was a pure Muslim enclave but we were never barred or prevented to worship the GOD we choose to worship!
