The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, has given a one-week ultimatum to ministries and parastatals occupying the Gidan Murtala Secretariat,Kano, to mobilise their staff and clean the whole premises.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Governor’s Director of Press, Alhaji Usman Bello, and issued to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the Deputy Governor gave the directive on Tuesday when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Gidan Murtala Office Complex.

‘’The Deputy Governor was visibly worried by the poor sanitary condition of the offices and their surroundings,’’it said.

It quoted Abubakar as also warning the civil servants against laxity, saying that “everyone must work hard to salvage the nation from its present predicament’’.

‘’The Ganduje Administration is determined to reposition the civil service in its bid to serve the people better and provide the needed dividends of democracy.

‘’The Deputy Governor emphasised that civil servants must report to work and close on time as government will not condone indiscipline,” the statement said.

It said the permanent secretaries of Ministries of Education and Water Resources, Alhaji Audi Baffa and Sarki Shehu respectively, conducted the Deputy Governor round the premises.

They assured him of the workers’ readiness to adhere to the directive in order to improve the sanitary condition of the building.
