Kaduna Assembly replaces Deputy Speaker

The Kaduna State House of Assembly, Wednesday, replaced former Deputy Speaker, Honourable John Audu Kwaturu with Hon. Nuhu Shadalafiya.

Hon. Shadalafiya, representing Kagarko constituency, is the former House  Committee chairman on Information.

The former Deputy Speaker, last Friday, resigned and defected from the Nigeria ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition party People’s Democratic Party.

During the house plenary on Wednesday, the Speaker Aminu Shagali also declared the seat of the former deputy speaker, Hon. Kwaturu vacant and that of another member representing Kudan Constituency, Hon. Junaid Yakubu who also defected to PDP.

Shagali stated that the declaration was in line with the provision of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Hon. Ahmed Mohammed representing Zaria nominated the new Deputy Speaker, Nuhu Shadalafiya for the position.

The motion was accepted by the lawmakers and Shadalafiya was immediately declared as the new Deputy Speaker.
