THE meeting of the National Council of State (NCS), the last during the tenure of President Goodluck Jonathan, is expected to hold today at the Council Chambers, State House, Abuja.

The meeting will be followed by that of National Police Council (NPC) at the same venue.

The Council of State comprises the President, Vice President, past heads of government and current Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN)/former CJNs. It is expected to ratify some key appointments.

The Guardian gathered that the ratification of Solomon Arase’s appointment as the substantive Inspector-General of Police (IGP) might form part of the deliberations at the meeting.

Arase was appointed as Acting Inspector-General of Police on April 21 following the sack of Suleiman Abba.
