JOHESU kicks against plan to sack 1,000 members

Public-healthThe Joint Health Sector Unions {JOHESU}, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Osun state have once again cried out over alleged plan by the hospital Management Board to sack about 1,000 workers. Besides, the union alleged that over 300 members were recently downgraded by the hospital saying the decision violated the terms of employment of the workers.

The union at a press conference yesterday, said the board wanted to go ahead with the mass retrenchment of members despite a subsisting court injunction on the planned sack by a legal practitioner and an order by the Osun state House of Assembly that the management of the health facility should suspend the action.

The chairman of JOHESU, Comrade Abiodun Afolabi who was accompanied to the venue of the press conference by other officers of the union alleged the planned action by the board violated the terms of agreement between the workers and the Osun state government because according to him the board legally employed the workers.
