The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has blamed South East governors and apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, for the problems in the region.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has blamed South East governors and apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, for the problems in the region.

According to the group, Ndigbo have suffered more humiliation since it was proscribed. In a statement yesterday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the separatists defended their secession demand.

The statement said: “The treacherous and ignoble role of South East governors, some self-acclaimed Igbo political elites and Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the proscription of IPOB, and the subsequent invasion of the Afaraukwu Umuahia country home of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on September 14, 2017 are a constant reminder of the Igbo adage that ‘when you kill your hero in internal squabble, during external fight you must remember him.

“We want to ask how those who conspired to proscribe the group and Igbo land have fared at the hands of those who orchestrated it?” Powerful condemned the killing of IPOB members by security officials, calling for a stop.

Meanwhile, theMovement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday celebrated its 21-year anniversary with a vow to continue in the struggle until Biafra was restored.

The group stated that the oppression, persecution, arrest and killing of its members in various parts of the country by security officers would not deter them from the struggle.

“We have been persecuted, arrested, killed, mesmerised, imprisoned and traumatised by aggressive agents of the Federal Government of Nigeria, we shall never retreat nor surrender,” the National Leader of the group, Comrade Uchenna Madu, told reporters in Enugu.
“MASSOB will continue to remember and honour our fallen heroes who willingly laid down their precious lives for the love of Biafra.”
