Institute holds women directors forum
The Institute of Directors (IoDs) Nigeria will hold its Women Directors’ Forum on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The theme of this year’s forum is Women as Leaders: “Financial Independence and Business Sustainability”.
Expected as the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion is the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan while Chairman of Board, Access Bank Plc, Mrs. Belo-Olusoga, would be the Guest Speaker.
The plenary sessions would feature distinguished speakers who will address the theme from various perspectives.
In a statement made available to The Guardian, the Director-General of IoDs Nigeria, Mr. Victor Banjo, said that the objectives of the forum is to provide a platform to network, share experiences and gain new insights on key issues which are important for personal and corporate success.
Banjo said the forum would also help in building sustainable businesses and enhancing personal financial empowerment, which would in return increase and improve the impact on national landscape.
He stated further that the event would also provide members an opportunity to gain insights into developmental needs of women directors so that they could enhance their service offerings to the society.
According to the Chairman of the Forum Organising Committee, Chief Sena Anthony, the choice of the theme for the 2016 forum was informed by the need for economic empowerment to bridge gender disparity in Nigeria.
She, therefore, urged leading women business executives, female executives in the private and public sectors, active and aspiring female entrepreneurs to attend the forum, noting that as a full-fledged member of Institute of Directors Worldwide Network and the African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN), the IoDs Nigeria represents top-level directors, policy makers and business leaders.
