Malam Is’haq Kawu Modibbo, the Director-General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) says Pinnacle Communications Ltd has finished installation of equipment for Gombe State Digital Switch Over (DSO).

Modibbo made the disclosure at an interactive session with journalist at the NBC Headquarters on Friday in Abuja.

He said that the commission would take decision on when it would launch DSO in the state, adding that the quality of equipment installed by Pinnacle Communications was up to standard and particularly good for the process.

Similarly, the director-general said Pinnacle was also working to install facilities in Asaba for Delta State DSO and had already procured equipment for six different locations in the country.

According to him, the Pinnacle Broadcast Centre located at Mpape in Abuja has some of the best broadcast equipment in the world.

He added that “I can say that as someone in broadcast industry for 42 years, the quality of equipment installed by Pinnacle was really up to standard and particularly good for our processes.

“ Unlike the pilot digital switch over in Jos which was done by Integrated-Television-Services (ITS) with 16 channels when pinnacle was given the Abuja digitisation, we had 30 channels for broadcasting.

“ And since Dec. 22, 2016 to date, they have not been off air not even once and that is the fact about what Pinnacle is able to do.”

The Chairman, Pinnacle Communications Ltd, Mr Lucky Omoluwa, said “Pinnacle broadcast centre had been on since 2016 and never went off even for five minutes.”

He said that the quality of equipment installed was the best for the process, saying “ because we believe in the director-general
of NBC, we moved to site without a dime.”

Omoluwa explained that before the appointment of Kawu-Modibbo as NBC boss, Pinnacle Communications had gone to court with the communication over dispute in respect of the content of the licence issued to the company by Federal Government.

He added that “however, when Kawu-Modibbo was appointed, he contacted us and assured us that this is a new era and that he will support us hundred per cent.

“ Consequently, we were given 12 weeks to install facilities at Mpape for Abuja Digital Switch Over and we were paid six months
after installation.”
