The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Musa Nagogo, inspect electoral materials used in the March 9 poll.

The candidate is challenging the victory of Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the omission of his name and his party’s logo in the ballot.

Ruling in the motion ex parte, chairman of the tribunal, Abba Mohammed, directed INEC to avail the candidate access to all the materials used in the election.

Counsel to the petitioner, Ahmed Adamu, had appealed that the tribunal should compel INEC to allow his client access all election materials to substantiate his claim.

The tribunal has also ordered INEC to allow the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, David Ombugadu, to inspect the electoral materials.

In another vein, the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state has condemned the recent killing of an under-age girl and attack on three Mada communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

In a statement in Lafia yesterday, the acting chairman, Francis Yua, expressed shock over the unwarranted murder of the girl (name withheld).

“Facts available to leadership of APGA reveal that an innocent under-aged school girl from Mante village was kidnapped, raped and murdered by suspected herdsmen,” he stated.

APGA alleged that the killers also killed relations of the girl who were searching for her.

Spokesman of Nasarawa police command, ASP Samaila Usman, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Lafia.
