The embattled Imo State Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Peter Obi, has described his suspension notice by some members of the state executive as ruse, hoax and nullity.

He, therefore, urged the public to disregard it, insisting he was still the chairman of the party and described the group as disgruntled persons with unfounded allegations who do not wish the party well.

In his reaction yesterday, Ezeobi wondered why the Secretary of the party in the state, Alphonsus Eberendu, was named to hold the forte in acting capacity, warning that the group would face the wrath of the law for their action.

On Thursday, a group of members allegedly made their way into the party’s office complex along Egbu Road, Owerri, announcing the suspension of Ezeobi, the Legal Adviser, Sylva Iwejuo, and Treasurer, Genevieve Ogbonna, and serving them a notice of suspension signed by the 27 chairmen and secretaries of the party in the councils of the state, vowing to take the development to the National Working Committee (NWC) for ratification.

They alleged that Ezeobi was bullish and highhanded in his actions in the last six years as the chairman; lacking in financial propriety; misappropriation of party funds; sidelining other executive members of the party, leading to exclusion of the financial secretary; leadership incompetence; brazen impunity; not holding state working committee meeting for four years; double standard; inability to account for over N50 million realised from the membership revalidation fee, among others.

There has been brewing crisis in the party for some time, which worsened after the last primaries, with the aggrieved members alleging that candidates were handpicked, which culminated in the formation of the New-APGA and suspension of Ezeobi.
