Imo APC calls for sack of Oshiomhole

The Imo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Daniel Nwafor has called for immediate resignation of the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Nwafor made the call in a press briefing, yesterday, while reacting to the suspension of the state governor, Rochas Anayo Okorocha from the party by the APC National Working Committee.

He described Okorocha’s suspension as “nullity, illegal, baseless and a mere distraction ahead of March 9 governorship and State House of Assembly elections.”

He accused Oshiomhole of trying to destroy APC in the state, as well as acting contrary to stipulated processes and party’s constitution.

He said: “Imo State APC members have asked me to tell Mr. Oshiomhole to immediately tender his resignation. He has caused so much harm for this party. His plan to destroy the party in this state and in the South-east will fail. Imo APC will resist him legally. We call on the leader of our party, President Muhammadu Buhari to call him to order in the interest of peace.”

Also, the Imo APC chairman reiterated that the party does not have a governorship candidate for next Saturday’s election, because the party’s candidate, Hope Uzodinma has long been expelled from the party for alleged anti party activities.

Meanwhile, thousands of APC women yesterday besieged major streets in Owerri, the state capital, to protest the suspension.

The party women led by Theresa Ohanuha insisted the suspension be reversed immediately or they would be compelled to resort to legal action.

Speaking during the protest, Gertrude Oduka, Henrietta Jacobs, Josephine Udorji and others, said the suspension would do more harm than good to the party and should not be allowed to stand.

They said: “We feel aggrieved because of the injustice meted on our leader, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha. We demand that APC National Working Committee should revisit it. Adams Oshiomhole should resign because he is not worthy to be our party leader.”
